{how to} ombre nails

So we all know the ombre {shade,shadow} trend is real big right now. Everyone and their little sister is getting the ombre hair highlights, it’s seen everywhere in clothes but I have to admit my favorite way to do the ombre trend is definitely the nails. Because when I am tired of it on my nails I can just take it off, no bleach needed.

Once I saw Katie from Running on Happiness try it out with purple…I simply just had to try for myself. Since I have been so drawn to blue lately I went for a blue/turquoise look.

These were the colors I used (from right to left): Sally Hansen-Blue It, OPI-Ski Teal We Drop, China Glaze-Turned Up Turquoise, Sinful Colors-Love Nails, OPI-What's With The Cattitude.

The colors turned out different than the gradual blended look I was going for. I highly suggest trying out the colors on your nails because polish looks WAY different on nails than in the bottle.

My index finger is completely wrong for the blend, even though it looks like the right color in the bottle.

Nonetheless I love the trend and my nails either way and you will get compliments galore!!

All I want is warmth and sunshine…the weather in Michigan has been crazy…thunderstorms and rain…yes granted it is better than snow but still…it’s quite crazy weather for late May. Thankfully this weekend I am taking off to the Bahamas for a quick four day work trip…I am so grateful for it. I am going to soak up some sun and relax…something I haven’t done in a loooong time.

Once again I have had this lace skirt for awhile now and this is the first time wearing it…I swear one day I will get better at wearing new things! I kept it simple and easy with a chambray shirt.

I hope you all had a good weekend…mine was really good. Some old friends from high school came out on Friday night for dinner and drinks. Funniest times reminiscing about being young and care free. (if only sometimes we could turn back the clock) I went and visited my girlfriend and her boyfriend in Royal Oak on Saturday. And my mom and I spent our Sunday at an antique market…I got some great things!

 

So I have a confession about this outfit…I literally have had this top since…middle school….like when I was 13. HAHA I recently found it in my room at my moms house and I couldn’t help but love it all over again. I am so attracted to the color blue lately…all shades, I just love it.

Yesterday was a really good day. I woke up and got somewhat ready…I didn’t do my hair or put on makeup but hey…I wore heels! I thought I would do a tribute to my newest sponsor…Steve Madden! If you haven’t already noticed the button on the right –>

Today was a much better day despite the rain. My grandmother is now in the comforts of her own home to recover and on the correct medication to prevent another stroke. My dad is going about his life as if nothing happened…typical man. I haven’t been sleeping much so excuse my tired and without makeup face, thank god for lipstick or I would look dead! I am hoping I will feel like myself and put effort into getting ready soon, but not today. I just was just comfortable in my jeans and button up with my personalized converse. These converse mark the 6th pair of converse I own…I think you could call it an obsession…not quite sure. I’m also not sure if I am even making sense right now…I kind of feel like I am rambling! Thanks for listening. You truly all are the best!

feather hair extensions

It has been a better day, my dad is out of the hospital and still waiting on biopsy results and my grandma is recovering and will come home tomorrow. Thank you all for your support and prayers, they have helped me.

I think it might take me a while to get back into the swing of things after such a scare in my family, I still don’t feel myself. So I thought I would do a quick post and tell you about the feather hair extensions I got last week.

I went in to get my hair trimmed as usual at my salon, Salon Luminosity and came out with these feather extensions. I have seen them here and there in trend but I always thought they were clip-ons, well they aren’t. These feathers are just like a hair extension and will be in my head for about a month. I can wash, blow-dry, curl and flat iron them just as if they were my hair. So far I love them and got nothing but compliments since I put them in!

{5 Favorite Things} Family Edition

My normal ‘5 Favorite Things’ post will not be the same today and I apologize. Normally I like to show you things making me happy and smile, like a new pair of shoes I bought or something sparkly and fun. However right now I have to be honest with all of you and admit that there isn’t anything making me smile or happy. Yesterday was a really bad day for me. I woke up to many missed calls and a voice mail from my mother that my grandmother had a stroke and was in the hospital. Although she was conscious, responding and had function of muscles, her memory was drifting in and out. If that wasn’t enough to deal with in one day I also found out that my father was in the hospital as well due to an infection in his esophagus called esophagitis. Not a happy day for me what so ever.

so I decided that I love Windows Live Writer. I can do everything that I need on it, right on my desktop and then it automatically posts to Blogger. It’s a dream come true for me! I highly suggest that if you are not using it, that you check it out and give it a try…you will fall!

Thankfully I have a job that doesn’t require a certain dress attire, I spend most of my day sitting in my office anyways, sometimes I am dealing with customers in person. I use my best judgment with what I wear, obviously I would never dress like a skank (not for work at least! lol jk) but sometimes I just want to be comfortable. This outfit reflects one of those days. I swear I wasn’t going for the safari look…it seems it just came out that way!

Oh well…bring on the elephants! Lions, Tigers & Bears…oh mi!
