Life According to Holly

Hello lovers! My name is Erika, and some of you may know me from the blog Café Fashionista. While your usual classy turtle, Miss Rachel, is off gallivanting on a glamorous adventure, I am honored to be here with all of vous; and even more thrilled to share a bit of fabulous, worldly-wisdom learned from none other than the haute-to-trot…Holly Golightly!

…a good night’s sleep is only achievable when your pretty peepers are concealed by a sleep mask that is two parts playful, one part sophisticated, and a pinch of elegant a la the Breakfast At Tiffany’s-inspired Holly GoNightly Sleep Mask.

…it is fine for a glamorous gal to live sans two-legged roommate, but she must always have a feline counterpart to pour her heart out to. Preferably one named Cat. Go find one waiting for you to adopt him or her here - tout de suite!

…though a large collection of shoes is an absolute must, when it comes to le wardrobe, all one needs is a closet full of LBD’s to harbor the power to conquer the world. As Wallis Warfield Simpson, Duchess of Windsor once said, “When a little black dress is right, there is nothing else to wear in its place.” For those of you wanting to buy me a little gifty, I shall let you in on un petit secret – Nightcap Clothing’s Priscilla Dress is calling my name. J’adore!

…tiaras are never to be reserved solely for true royals; they are to be donned with wild abandon at any time, day or night, regardless of one’s current state of dress. I myself recommend the Divine Miss Sarah. Stunning, mais oui?

…restaurants are incredibly overrated. A truly perfect place for devouring one’s meal du jour is none other than where one feels completely at home. For Holly it was Tiffany’s; for me, it is le Nordstrom Shoe Salon. After all, a girl needs fuel for shopping, n'est-ce pas?

Tell me darlings, what life lessons have you learned from Miss Holly Golightly?

Fashionably yours!

rain rain go away

I really hope April showers bring May flowers because it has been raining here...yay for rain boots! I got these rain boots recently at some little shop on my trip to Frankenmuth, read about it here. The are perfect for spring showers because they are so bright and colorful...just like I like spring to be :) This is a very casual outfit for me...I like to think that I was lazy because of the rain. I will be in Las Vegas this weekend soaking up the sun!!! YAY!!

{5 Favorite Things}

{view of Praha Castle from Charles Bridge}

I find myself dreaming and missing Prague lately. I went at the end of last summer for a week. I had a trip planned to Russia for ten days to visit my uncle at the Embassy but with the fires and the embassy being evacuated I had to last minute change my trip (for the sake of saving my plane ticket that was non refundable :/ ) so to Prague I went. I fell completely in love, it truly is an enchanting city. It is right up there with Paris as one of my favorite cities in the world. So since I have been thinking of it so much lately and it's one of my favorites...I found it only fitting to make my 5 Favorite Things this week :)

 {cute little key covers my aunt bought me for Easter...I just love them}

{a gorgeous flower pin from my mother that I find myself pinning on everything}

{my chocolate bunny from my Easter basket...I can't wait to bite off his ears :) }

{my beautiful new sweater that my mother bought for me (from j crew of course) with a bit of love in the background to show my love for her}

Hope you all are having a wonderful week so far...mine is going to be short and busy because I leave for Vegas Thursday morning!

{tutus, cupcakes & bunny rabbits}

Happy Easter Sunday my bunnies!!

Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life.  ~S.D. Gordon

I finally am feeling a little better, I have a sinus & ear infection but nonetheless it is Easter weekend. I had a wonderful Easter weekend with my siblings. Filled with colored Easter eggs, tutus, cupcakes, pretend tea party's, and prancing around the mall in our Easter Sunday outfits styled by yours truly. I hope all of your are having a wonderful day celebrating the re-birth of our king!

gimmie that bouffant

It isn't very often that I pull pages out of a fashion magazine. Normally I flip through them, get some ideas or find a piece that I want, then they sit on my coffee table for a few months and off to donation they go. It could be because the editorials in them never really speak to me or sometimes it all starts to look the same. However this editorial in the May edition of Marie Claire spoke to me...in VOLUME! (ha get it...like the hair?) I am totally obsessed with these photos and looks. I love the modern day take on Marie Antoinette in the second to last one, they are all great. Especially the last one, never mind the oh so beautiful Chanel bag and gorgeous YSL short suit...look at the hair with the headband and those amazing sunglasses! I am in love :)

what are your thoughts; love the new bouffant or should it have been left in the 60s?

{5 Favorite Things}

{my new leather wrap bracelet}

As you know my family and I went to Frankenmuth on Sunday from here...everyone enjoys the atmosphere and chicken dinners but my mother and I have a hidden agenda when we go...a store called Bead Haven. It is one of the largest bead stores in the country and the owner and her children make jewelry that they sell in the store. Hence the beautiful bracelet above. You have seen me wear jewelry I have purchased from there a million times, examples here, here and here. Luckily for all of you I am willing to share my secret...one of the girls who works in the store sells on Etsy and you can visit her shop Pieces of Terra here. She is amazingly talented and her jewelry is my favorite!

Here are some of my other favorite things making me happy :)

{glittery Easter eggs}

{my siblings that I cannot wait to see this weekend for Easter}

{it snowed today in Michigan :( so I couldn't be more excited for my Vegas trip in two weeks to escape the cold weather} image via weheartit

Hope everyone has something that is currently making them happy as well :)
