old is new again

So I finally embarking on something that I have wanted to do for a long time...
I rented a booth at a new antique mall in my area to showcase and sell some things that I have collected and new things as I find them....a classy turtle boutique if you will :)

I have lots of things from vintage jewelry to clothes to hats to frames to vases to figures to furniture that I have re-worked. I find things everywhere but mainly I love estate sales.
I can find things very cheap and re paint them or fix them up and viola! they are beautiful again!
Pictures will come as soon as it is all set up and eventually I will get a shop set up on Etsy :)

This weekend I have so busy getting things ready to go for move in next weekend!

To give you guys a preview of what I mean...this weekend I found a fabulous 1970s velvet sofa at an estate sale and I transformed it into a super cute new sofa for my apartment with just a screw driver :)

rubber duck {boots that is}

I am a huge fan of Hunter rain boots.
BUT I am starting to see every girl in my city wearing them this winter.
Without boots...we simply would not make it through the winters in the mid-west and east coast and I simply wish to not have to replace my leather ones year after year after being ruined from salt.
SO I believe I found a solution with a little inspiration from J Crew and Sperry...A DUCK BOOT!
They remind of something you would see Elmer Fudd wearing and they keep my feet dry and warm!
PS. I got mine from Sears for $40.00!!

Golden Globes dresses 2011

The Golden Globes were great last night...the glamour...the lights = magnifique!
I have complied a list of my favorites dresses...and my not so favorites

LOVE
Julia Stiles in a Romona Keveza mermaid gown...just loved.

Olivia Wilde stole my heart in a Marchesa ballgown!

Sarah Hyland...just beautiful in a vintage Max Azria dress
Diana Argon always looks beautiful...love this J. Mendel dress

NOT- LOVE

love Oscar de la Renta but not Lea Michele in this dress...hello pepto bismol

Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood...umm ?
Jennifer Love Hewitt in a Romona Keveza...I know it is actually ice blue...but I can't help but think wedding
Natalie Portman in Viktor & Rolf
and lets talk about Natalie Portman...I just saw Black Swan last night...I absolutely loved it...I was a ballerina for years and years so I totally get entranced by the story of Swan Lake. I also love Natalie Portman...she is always stylish and stunning. However with this dress choice last night...I am utterly disappointed. For one I did not find enough glamour to be in this look and hello! its the golden globes! and I was kinda hoping for her to go with the Black Swan theme just a little. But she does look beautiful as always :)

What are your opinions?

jcrew casual

I don't plan my outfits because if I do.. I never wind up liking them once I have them on.
So when I get dressed in the morning I just grab what I love and then keep switching things until I am comfortable. It is not until I post pictures that I realize I am sometimes dressed in ALL J. Crew...
ha-ha they should pay me to advertise I swear! This is one of my favorite tops from them!

vegetarian fajitas with fresh pico de gallo

As I told you guys here with my hot cocoa recipe, I am Spanish but my grandfather was raised by Mexicans, making Mexican food the thing I grew up eating :) However it is not often you find a vegetarian Mexican...my family still almost four years later do not grasp the concept that I don't eat meat/chicken/fish etc....so it is up to me to come up with my own recipes for myself with the Mexican flavors I love.

vegetarian fajitas with pico de gallo and beans :)
These fajitas are my favorite. So easy to make and taste delicious...especially with my fresh pico de gallo :)

Both recipes serves 1-2 people. Double as needed.

Pico De Gallo

Ingredients:
*This can be eaten with tortilla chips or on top of fajitas.
 -2 roma tomatoes
-1/2 avacado (very soft)
-1/4 english cucumber
-cilantro (no measurement, just enough to taste)
-garlic salt
1. Chop up all veggies
2. Mix together.
3. Chop cilantro to taste
4. Enjoy :)

Vegetarian Fajitas
Ingredients:
*I buy my vegetables organic and pre-cut to save on time.
-package of sweet peppers (about 20 small or 10 large)
-package of portabella mushrooms (2 large)
-tomato
-onion* is not in my recipe because I dislike them
-tortillas
-garlic salt
-cumin
-pepper
-vegetable oil (I use smart balance)
*When it comes to seasoning, I just use enough to taste
1. Slice veggies in small strips
2. Pour oil in large frying pan to cover bottom, low heat
3. Add shake of cumin, and pepper into oil. Add two or three shakes of garlic salt
4. Mix vegetables around to cover with oil and seasoning.
5. Increase to medium heat and cook covered until veggies are tender. Stirring occasionally.
6. Heat up tortilla, add cheese and enjoy :)

Hope you all enjoy!

seeing old things with new eyes

Found some great  vintage items this weekend while looking for a few things for my spare bedroom/ office I am working on. I wasn't intending on looking but this vintage globe of my grandfathers inspired me to do so.

isn't this lovely?

I just love old vintage things more and more ♥
must be the curiosity of the story and history behind them!

just what I was thinking

scanned these out of the new Urban Outfitters catalog and I can't help but just love the looks. Floral prints, polka dots and lace have been floating around in my head lately for spring. And UO has done it with a super fabulous retro vibe. I can't even tell you how much I ADORE this last picture...I want everything about it...I mean those pants are just incredible.

Maybe I will have to skip on over to UO today to get some things for my Florida trip next month....hmmm :)

llévame de vuelta a España

take me back to Spain...

is what the title means in case you were wondering...

I woke up to tons of snow today and it was cold...
I found myself dreaming about Spain all day long. I spent a whole summer there, over a year ago.
I love Spain for many reasons;
I am spanish, I have friends there, the food, the warm weather, the castles, the history..

but I thought I would give a preview of some of the highlights I find myself missing...

I miss paella the most
