Thigh-High Time

Every since I saw J Crew's Fall 2010 look book I have been craving thigh highs. I saw them a million times on Gossip Girl but they always seemed too school-girlish for me, but now I love them...leave it to J Crew.

The J Crews here in Michigan don't sell them in the stores and I am super impatient to order things online so I have been searching for thigh highs that are a few things:
1. similar to J Crews
2. thick and cotton/wool or something warm
3. long enough for my mile long legs

I was super excited when I found some at Target for almost a quarter of the cost!!

J Crew Thigh Highs are $17.50
Target Thigh Highs = $5.99

So of course I bought a dark gray pair, a black pair and a light gray knitted pair! Can't wait to wear them!

Pit-bull love

My mom happened to show me this video about Oogy the pit bull that is becoming famous right now. So I thought I would share. It is very inspirational. The book was just released about the dogs story: Oogy: The Dog Only a Family Could Love. Go pick it up today!

And during the video I couldn't help but think about the fact that it could have been my pit-bull that had to endure that experience. Three years ago I was working in Kentucky for a whole month with my step-dad. One day he called from the field saying he found a dog and I needed to come get it. When I arrive my step-dad carried to me a skeleton looking dog with big floppy ears. He was four months old, had been starved, beaten and thrown out on a front lawn to die in the hot summer heat. At only four months old, he was so scared of people he urinated all over my back seat. To the vet I went with this baby pit-bull, he had mange, fleas, malnourished and numerous broken bones that had already healed incorrectly so his legs looked deformed. The vet told him that if we wouldn't have found him, he would not have survived another week and told me the way to Humane Society. On way there, I found myself instead driving to a pet store. I left that pet store with a crate, food, dog bowls, bones, a dog bed and a collar and leash. I carried the pit bull in my hotel room to the shower, he wouldn't stop shaking as I cleaned the caked on dirt off of him. Bundled in a towel I set him on my lap to dry him off, and with that he looked up and licked my face. In the instant I knew I found a life long friend.

It was extremely hard raising a puppy in a hotel room for a month but when we got home, he was a different dog. One full of smiles and the most unique personality I have ever known.

But Tucky's, short for Kentucky, journey has yet to be over. He since has gone through three surgeries. The first was on his left front leg, was so badly deformed from being broken that he couldn't walk right. The doctors had to re-brake his leg, cut a huge piece of bone out and insert pins, that I had to turn once a day to stretch the leg. Six months in recovery and Tucky needed yet another surgery, his back right tendon had ripped. after recovery so had his left tendon. The first year of his life was rough and spent with casts on his legs, so when it comes to other dogs, he is not real sociable, but when it comes to people, he is the most loving dog I have ever known. My life wouldn't be the same without him that's for sure!

Windy Wednesday

Our warm 60s fall weather has dropped just as I predicted here in Michigan to 50s and it's windy and cold :(
my sandals and summer clothes have been rotated to the backs of my closets (yes I have more than one :/ guilty) and it has become hard with the sudden change to want to dress fabulously. It's on days like this I rely on awesome accessories to get me through. I thought I would share some of my favorites that I have bought and acquired over the years that I find myself always counting on.

J Crew pearl cobblestone necklace

I just got this necklace and I have adored it since the day I took it off the mannequin,
I can throw it on over a t shirt and instantly it looks great!

Vintage bracelet, J Crew large bauble bracelet, handmade chain bracelet
These three bracelets I find myself throwing on with almost every outfit. The top one I found in a vintage store for $5 and I love it! My J Crew bauble bracelet goes with EVERYTHING.

The chain one is made by Terra at Bead Haven in Frakenmuth, MI. She does awesome pieces and she will make you just about anything for a great price. You can find her stuff on Etsy, Pieces of Terra.

Forever 21 double finger bird ring
LOVE this double finger bird ring from Forever 21!

Fossil watch

I bought this Fossil over a year ago and it is my favorite, granted it is not the Chanel J12 but people mistake it for it all the time :)

No-Chicken Noodle Soup Saturday

Since I've been sick and haven't really left my apartment in days and haven't been doing much. So today I thought I would make some minus- chicken noodle soup since its the only thing I feel like eating and it's super easy to make.

The recipe is my own I have perfected it over many seasons of making chicken noodle soup, however there is no chicken since I am vegetarian :) The batch makes about 10 servings and I usually freeze some and keep it throughout the winter season. It is perfect, super easy to make and usually tastes wonderful!

I buy the vegetables frozen because let's face it when your sick you don't feel like cutting vegetables but I buy all organic so I know I am getting good quality. I use fresh cut onions for better taste.

Things you'll need:
4 cartons of vegetable broth (32oz each)
1 package frozen cut carrots (16oz)
1 package frozen peas (16oz)
1 package frozen corn (16oz)
1 carton of pre-cut onion (7oz) * you can find in grocery section by fruits and veggies
1 package of Kluski Amish noodles (1 lb)
* I find these noodles in the international isle of my super market, you can replace with other noodles but in my opinion I think they are what make the soup
Salt
Pepper
Garlic salt
Parsley flakes
You are going to use half of all ingredients besides the broth, if you want to double the recipe, just double the broth and you are all set.

1. Pour broth in extra large pot on medium heat.
2. Add 8oz of carrots, 8oz of peas, 8oz of corn and 3.5oz of pre-cut onions into broth. Stir.
*I only use half so I have spare on hand to make again and I purposely don't wait for broth to boil to add vegetables.

3. Bring ingredients to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low.
4. Season to taste with salt, pepper, garlic salt and parsley flakes. Stir.
*I usually put about two shakes of each in.
5. Add 1/2 (.5 lbs) the package of noodles. Stir and cover.
 6. Cook until noodles are tender or to your liking.
7. Turn off heat and serve. :) Extra can be frozen or refrigerated.
Yummy No-Chicken Noodle Soup :)

Hope you all enjoy!

Polka dot indian summer

J Crew Dot flouncette blouse, J Crew skirt, J Crew cardigan, J Crew flower belt, Forever 21 necklace, cotton slip-ons
With fall in full swing here in Michigan and winter being just a cold chill around the corner I am soaking up every last bit of our current Indian summer that is sure to be short lived. I am attempting to wear my summery/fall clothes before the bitter cold hits and they have to move to the back of the closet. I didn't even realize until I was posting that I am wearing all J Crew (it's because I just love them). I have had my cardigan and skirt for ever, they have become staples I always wind up turning to in my wardrobe. This dot flouncette blouse is new and I totally love it. The fit is perfect and I love the polka dots! I know I will wear it again and again so it was worth it. My slip-ons are from Urban Outfitters sale bin and I wear them with everything, I thought a sneaker and skirt day was in order with the beautiful sun shinning :)

And in the end....Tucky my rescue pit bull decided he want to meet everyone. If he had a say...this whole blog would be dedicated to him :)

Gossip Girl desire

For you Gossip Girl lovers out there like myself, this Mondays "Touch of Eva" episode was drama filled as always! I am not too crazy about Eva, but that's because I will die a Blair and Chuck fan!

But the episode has left me with my new desired item: the Stephen Dweck cuff on Serena.

Thanks to http://www.gossipgirlfashion.net/tag/Serena+van+der+Woodsen for the photo!

I will surely be on the hunt for this cuff for a while. Let me know if anyone knows where to find it?!

OPI and Burlesque....oo la la :)

If you haven't heard the news about the movie Burlesque with Kristen Bell, Christina Aguilera, and believe it or not CHER. We all loved Christina as Miss Lady Marmalade and this will sure delight all those who love musicals, myself included. :) I am most excited to see Kristen Bell perform however because I love her!

A BRUNETTE and beautiful Kristen Bell. Thanks to MTV News for the photo.
Check out all about the movie at http://www.burlesque-movie.com/

My favorite thing to come out of the movie however is the to die for OPI nail polish line.
Burlesque 2010 line

Personally I wanted to buy every bottle especially of the really glittery ones...but I resisted the temptation and bought my favorite: Bring on the Bling
In the bottle it looks all gold but once on your nail you see that its gold with specks of color...so fabulous!

I just love it!!!!!!!!!!

Reptile rings

Reptile/Animal rings seem to be all the rage right now...
Angelina Jolie, Heidi Klum, Kate Hudson...etc. have all been seen rocking snake rings on their fingers lately.

So I was super excited when I just so happen to find an awesome ring to call my own!
Except I went for another reptile I prefer more of course!

Only $8 at Wet Seal! and I just love it as a great statement to my everyday outfits.

P.S. both my sweater and top are J. Crew and my cargos' are Hollister Co.
